Silver Falls State Park FAMILY FRIENDLY - Nestled in the lower elevation of Oregon's Cascade Mountains lies a temperate rain forest. It is here that the Trail of Ten Falls/Canyon Trail (770k) (Acrobat required to view map) can be found. The Canyon Trail and the falls descend to a forest floor covered with ferns, mosses, and wildflowers. You will also find stands of Douglas fir, hemlock, and cedar. While thousands visit the park every year, it is large enough for you to find quiet places to sit and watch for birds (download a bird list as a text file.)

Smith Rock Climb Hiking trails offer spectacular views of the surrounding area. You can spend 30 minutes walking along the river or a half day making a loop on the entire trail system that extends outside of the park. The major rock faces are composed of welded tuff (compressed volcanic ash) reaching a height of up to 550 feet. The picnic and campground areas sit on top of the rimrock which is made up of columnar basalt. There are over 1500 climbing routes in and around the park ranging from some of the best sport climbs in the world to... “Why would anyone want to climb that pile of choss”. People climb year-round, but summer temperatures can reach 100+ degrees (f), and in the dead of winter the thermometer stays close to the freezing mark (32f) during the day. Spring and fall are the most popular climbing months.

Jet Boat Rides on the Rogue The Lower Rogue at Gold Beach and Wedderburn is where the nations original Jet Boat ride began operation. In 1895 when a mail contact was issued to the Mail Boat Trips to carry the mail by river which started the upriver passenger boats operations. Here on the Lower Rogue River Tour Boats will skim the Rogue's waters 52 miles up into the Wild and Scenic area going far into the Federally protected Wild and Scenic Section. Normally no power boats are allowed in a Federally Designated Wild Section, however motor powered Tour Boats were operating here long before Wild and Scenic protections were put in place. Tour Boat travelers will be treated to Wild River, Wild Lands and abundant Wildlife in a safe and exhilarating whitewater trip upriver. Mail Boat Trips were the first to operate with passengers being taken upriver and back with prop driven boats, Jerry's Rogue Jets was the first to use Hydro Jet Boat technology to allow upriver passenger travel in low water periods.

Three Sisters Wilderness FAMILY FRIENDLY - Many would argue, including me, that this is Oregon at its finest. The high, snowcapped Three Sisters (North Sister at 10,085 feet, Middle Sister at 10,047 feet, and South Sister at 10,358 feet) embellish the eastern side of this Wilderness, the second largest in Oregon. If you include Broken Top at 9,175 feet just to the south, you have 14 glaciers offering perhaps the best example of the effects of glaciation in the Pacific Northwest. Collier Glacier, between North and Middle Sister, is the largest sheet of ice in Oregon.

Oakridge, Oregon Located at the foot of the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains, Oakridge is a gateway to some of Oregon´s best recreational attractions. From Oakridge you´re just minutes away from a long list of campgrounds and trailheads throughout the Willamette National Forest. Some of the best trout fishing can be found on the Middle Fork of the Willamette River which flows right by Oakridge on its way down to the Willamette Valley floor. More excellent fishing and boating can be enjoyed on nearby mountain lakes and reservoirs. Willamette Pass, one of the regions most popular ski areas , is just a short drive up Highway 58.

Mt. Saint Helens-Washington Shaken by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, the north face of this tall symmetrical mountain collapsed in a massive rock debris avalanche. Nearly 230 square miles of forest was blown down or buried beneath volcanic deposits. At the same time a mushroom-shaped column of ash rose thousands of feet skyward and drifted downwind, turning day into night as dark, gray ash fell over eastern Washington and beyond. The eruption lasted 9 hours, but Mount St. Helens and the surrounding landscape were dramatically changed within moments. In 1982, the President and Congress created the 110,000-acre National Volcanic Monument for research, recreation, and education. Inside the Monument, the environment is left to respond naturally to the disturbance.

King Estate Winery Our family owned, organic winery known for award winning Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris is located on a 1033 acre certified organic estate southwest of Eugene, Oregon near the town of Lorane. Oregon Coast Aquarium FAMILY FRIENDLY - In an underwater adventure. visitors are immersed in Keiko?s former home through acrylic tunnels surrounded by several feet of sea water. Passages of the Deep has proven to be an unique attraction. As though they were taking a walk into the open ocean, visitors are able to come face to face with large sharks, rockfish and bat rays swimming above and below.
